Anything But Mid is hosted by Amy Edwards and Whitney Stropp. In this episode, Whitney shares her 'lazy longevity' protocol, inspired by her desire to be a strong and capable 88-year-old with minimal effort. She outlines simple strength training, balance, bone density, and cardio exercises, along with protein intake, that she found through her research, and Amy says the plan is essentially what she already does.
Lazy Longevity
Whitney outlines the bare minimum for fitness, balance, bone density, and nutrition to live a long, healthy life, even for the lazy.
Top insights
- Whitney experienced an eye twitch after Jeuveau injections, which she discovered is a temporary side effect of muscles adjusting to treatment, exacerbated by caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol.
- Amy shares an unverified, anecdotal story about a friend whose retina started to detach while she was using an eyelash growth serum, and started again when she went back to it.
- Whitney's personal goal for longevity is to be able to get up from chairs and beds, carry groceries, lift luggage into overhead bins, and avoid falling at 88 years old.
- Research cited by Whitney indicates that 80% of strength and longevity benefits come from just four to six hard sets per muscle group per week.
- Whitney's simple strength moves for home are squats, rows, floor presses or push-ups, and farmer's carries for grip and core strength.
- For bone density, Whitney suggests a hack in place of box jumps: rising onto the tiptoes and dropping heavily onto the heels 15 times to give the body a jolt that prompts it to build bone.
- Whitney says walks should be brisk enough to hold a conversation but not sing a song, with hills or short bursts of faster walking to spike the heart rate.
- Whitney's research says to aim for 80 to 100 grams of protein a day, and she suspects her recent tiredness and brain fog come from not getting enough protein.

Anything But Mid is hosted by Amy Edwards and Whitney Stropp. Neither host is a doctor and nothing here is medical advice. Lightly cleaned for readability.
Amy: Ready, ready, ready, ready? I'm Amy.
Whitney: And I'm Whitney, and this is midlife, which are anything but mid.
Amy: We're mailing it.
Whitney: Wait, wait, my honers, I want to tell you something. So, I went and got some injections the other day.
Amy: Okay, I knew you got a peel or something too.
Whitney: Yeah, that was separate. I went and got injections too, like lip flip, and whatever I get my forehead, and I'd gotten Botox before, that did not work, and so I went back to my old person, I was like, oh, my gosh, fix me up, and she does Jeuveau on me, I didn't realize.
Amy: I get Jeuveau, yeah.
Whitney: So, super interesting. However, I have one thing that bothers me, whatever I get injections, I've just started to realize, I get a fucking eye twitch.
Amy: Oh, really?
Whitney: You remember this happened?
Amy: No.
Whitney: I get an eye twitch whenever I get injections, and so it's just happening again this week. I got Jeuveau. Now I'm experiencing an eye twitch, so I looked it up. So, an eye twitch is usually a temporary side effect caused by nearby muscles adjusting to the treatment, mild nerve irritation or surrounding muscles working harder to compensate, and it can go away on its own, but mine lasts.
Amy: Your muscles are resisting.
Whitney: My eye twitching lasts a few weeks. No, it's exacerbated by caffeine and nicotine, and alcohol, and so I'm like, oh, God, you know, I'm sitting here drinking coffee.
Amy: Are you doing nicotine now?
Whitney: Sometimes.
Amy: I'm...
Whitney: I had some stuff, listen, listen,
Amy: It's okay, no sham, you do what you want, you're a grown woman.
Whitney: God damn, I don't drink, isn't that enough? So anyway, it happens because your muscles are trying to relax, and then they're fighting it, right? And so small nerves near the injection sites on the forehead or around the eyes can become slightly inflamed. Fucking inflammation again. And surrounding facial areas temporarily overcompensate, and then what you can do to find relief. So, I looked this up in case anyone else is experiencing this, get more sleep.
Amy: Of course, literally have to be a zillion hours a night sleep.
Whitney: Reduce long hours in front of a computer or phone screen, that's what I think it does happen because I'm staring at a screen, cut back on caffeine and alcohol, and use lubricating eye drops because that can soothe some surface irritation that sometimes can trigger eyelids.
Amy: I have some eye drops, do you need some?
Whitney: Not right now, but I suffer from dry eye.
Amy: Oh, I'm sorry.
Whitney: So, I'm actually going to, so, okay, so, my mid moment this week was I I've had eyelash extensions, but then about a month and a half ago, my eyes swole up, one eye, one eye got red, swollen, itchy on the lid, and I was like,
Amy: I hate a itchy eyelid, it makes me crazy.
Whitney: Yes, it will drive you insane.
Amy: It's always my eye thing makes me crazy.
Whitney: Yeah, so I was like, wait, you know what? I think I've been doing the extensions now for a year, which is crazy to me, but I was like, I'm going to get off the extensions. I did some googling and I bought these like pads, these medicated pads to try to ease the pain, nothing worked, then I go to France, it kind of dies down, and then I come back, and it's back, so anyway, I'm going I'm going to the ophthalmologist, whatever the other type, there's an optometrist and an ophthalmologist, I'm going to go see them tomorrow, and I'm going to talk to them about my dry eye, but in the meantime, I was like, you know, I my eyelashes need time to heal, I can't put any serum on them or anything right now, because it just gets this eye
Amy: Are you using a serum too? Is that like a gross serum?
Whitney: Yeah, I not not continuously, but they suggest using that.
Amy: Yes, they sure do. Did you use it in France?
Whitney: No, I left it at home, but I wasn't continuously using the serum, but it was stinging, so I stopped. Anyway, I need to get this figured out.
Amy: You want to hear this horror story?
Whitney: What?
Amy: A friend of mine was using the serum, growth serum. Her fucking retina started to detach.
Whitney: What?
Amy: Yeah, no, she went to the eye doctor, he was like, "Lay off of this for a while," whatever, and then it started to heal on its own, and then she thought, "Okay, I'll use my serum again." It started again.
Whitney: What kind of serum?
Amy: So, I this is unverified, this is anecdotal.
Whitney: Do you know what the serum was? Because I don't remember, but like that is it like it is definitely getting in your eyes, like it can get into your eyes. Yeah, of course.
Amy: So, just be careful on your eyelids, like my eyelids are very, very sensitive.
Whitney: This has never happened to me before. I've never had this. I had a stye once, like on the lower lid or something, but nothing like this, and it won't go away, and it eases off for a little bit, and then one day, I wake up, and it's like, I look like Rocky Balboa.
Amy: And have you used a serum?
Whitney: No.
Amy: No.
Whitney: Anyway, really? But in the meantime, I was like, I my eyelashes need some help, and I thought, oh, I'm just going to go back to I'm just going to try one of those, you know, the fake eyelash strip.
Amy: Uh-oh.
Whitney: Well, the glue was probably old, but anyway, I can't freaking see anymore, which is so sad. My magnifying mirror was broken. I'm trying to put the the the Those lashes? Those lashes on,
Amy: It's really hard.
Whitney: Somehow, this has never happened to me before, I got the glue in my eye. My lash My my lids were sticking together. I was trying to go to church that day. I'm like literally trying to pull my eyelids apart. I'm in a panic that I'm blinding myself. I'm splashing water, it's glue, like, how do you get it off? I've got castor oil on there, I'm using mineral oil wipe, I'm like, uh, it was so stressful
Amy: Oh, no.
Whitney: all because I wanted to look pretty for church. Anyway, I'm not blind, so,
Amy: Oh, good.
Whitney: Haven't you seen there's a new trend and it's like nothing on your lashes? Well, I see that with Pamela Anderson.
Amy: Pamela does it, Kelly Rutherford does it. Younger women.
Whitney: But I don't like it.
Amy: Oh, neither.
Whitney: I don't like it. If there's one thing that I want to put on for the day, it's my mascara, like I want my lashes.
Amy: Me too.
Whitney: And so I don't know what I'm going to do.
Amy: Well, my eye's twitching right now.
Whitney: I didn't even notice. At least they're not it's not glued together.
Amy: At least I have living, I should glue it into position.
Whitney: Did you have a mid moment or was that kind of
Amy: Yes, I do have a mid moment. No, I just wanted to say that in case anyone has experienced that. My mid moment is that the other night, we went to a banquet and I stayed up till 1:00 a.m. I can't do that. I pay a price for like days. Like I was so freaking tired. Justin was too. And I was like that was a lot. And so I need to understand my shelf life better and be okay, and he needs to understand too, and be okay if it's an event for him. This was like an event that he
Whitney: Well, were you having fun in the moment and then you're like, "Good Lord, I got to get out of here"?
Amy: I really was tired at a certain point and I wanted to go home, but I was there supporting him and socializing. It was like a speaker's thing, and but I I really need to set it up in advance and be like, "Listen, I may dip and just grab an Uber and head home. You can stay all you want, but I might just have to head home." At a certain point. And like, yeah, good, I don't know if it was worth it.
Whitney: Well, what did your Oura Ring say the next day?
Amy: Oh, my my score was shit. I got like a 76.
Whitney: 76?
Amy: I know. Terrible.
Whitney: No. No, I didn't get like all the good And then you're just kind of dragging for the next couple of days trying to catch up?
Amy: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Whitney: Yeah. I know, sleep is number one, and why is it so hard to get?
Amy: I forgot to hit record. Oh, hilarious. Just start now, cuz I can use what's on there. I hope.
Whitney: So, we're just going to keep going?
Amy: We're going to keep going. We're going to keep going. If the sound sounded weird there, well, I'm going make it work.
Whitney: All right, it's going to work. It's going to work.
Amy: It's going to work.
Whitney: All right, so the other day, I was in the shower, which apparently is where I'm getting great ideas these days,
Amy: Ooh.
Whitney: and I was thinking about going to work out, and I we've talked about this, I hate to work out, I I don't enjoy it at all. Sometimes if I'm taking a class with friends or something, but I'm not doing that right now. I'm doing this Upgrade Labs, which is basically just me and an and a machine that I follow along, and I never feel like I'm doing it right, and I'm just like, "Uh, this is so stressful." And I feel like there's always a camera. There's a camera, just like a security camera, and I'm like they're laughing at me. They're back in the back and they're watching
Amy: No, they're not. They could care less.
Whitney: No, they're not. But, so I'm in the shower, and I'm like I really need to go work out, but I don't want to work out, and then it just came to me, I'm like I need to know what is the minimal amount that I need to do in order to be a strong and capable 88-year-old? Right? Like just the I don't need fancy gyms or red lights or whatever, like what what that that next thing, that next thing. Yeah, I don't need it.
Amy: I was just at lunch with a friend yesterday and she was saying something about adding another supplement and whatever, and I was like, "I don't want to add another supplement. I don't want to add another one. I've got enough. I'm not Bryan Johnson."
Whitney: No, and by the way, I did Bryan Johnson, and I didn't really feel any different. It didn't make that big of a difference,
Amy: No.
Whitney: so I dumped it.
Amy: And it just honestly then, it adds a level of stress because then you think if you're not doing it, you're not doing enough, and that's a level of stress, and something that that's that's the opposite direction.
Whitney: Well, now my friends are doing, well, one friend is doing Pvolve, which is that Jennifer Aniston workout. I don't know if you've seen it.
Amy: No.
Whitney: And I was like maybe I need to do Pvolve, and then I'm like, "No, just give me the minimum, like
Amy: Let me guess, you have to buy a subscription or some bullshit?
Whitney: Yeah, well, you it's it's like a gym, so, yeah, you've got to do sessions.
Amy: Oh, it's a gym?
Whitney: Yeah, it's Pvolve gym.
Amy: Jennifer Aniston owns a gym?
Whitney: No, it's a She goes to it. It's a it's a it's a strength training technique, and so I guess she I don't know if she owns this or if she's just the spokesperson, but it's a specific gym, kind of like Pilates,
Amy: Okay, okay.
Whitney: but it's called Pvolve, and it's nothing to like Pilates, but anyway. So, I got out of the shower, and I went to my best friend, Gemini, Google Chat.
Amy: Oh, Lord. We got to end that.
Whitney: And I said I know, cuz I'm starting to feel guilty about all the data centers and the water and all that stuff, too. Yeah. Like it's not good. Ouch. All right, anyway, and I typed in exactly that. What is the minimum amount that I need to do in order to be a strong and capable 88-year-old?
Amy: 88?
Whitney: Well, I said late 80s, like I was like
Amy: Okay. Let's go to 88, I like it.
Whitney: All right. Cuz I don't care, I mean look, I would love to have a six pack, and like I would love to have like super defined body, but I'm lazy. Ain't going to do it. Not doing it.
Amy: You got you got to hit the gym for this. It's boring, I don't like it. And You want to eat, drink, travel.
Whitney: I want to eat, and look, I can I'm happy in my bikini, you know, maybe sometimes there's a tiny bit of a pudge,
Amy: So what?
Whitney: but I was hanging with 20-year-olds and I felt fine. You know?
Amy: Oh, you look great.
Whitney: So, I I I don't need the six pack, and I don't want to live at the gym, so what what do I need to do?
Amy: I love this topic.
Whitney: So, I'm going to
Amy: I love this topic.
Whitney: break it down for you people and tell you
Amy: Great. Please.
Whitney: the simple movements that you need, the things that you need to focus on, all right?
Amy: It's all movements or are we doing
Whitney: Well, no, I mean there's the the they're certain things that you need to to deal with.
Amy: Okay. Your protocol.
Whitney: Yeah, you have to work on muscle strength, you have to work on balance, Call it the minimum, working out. the I hate doing everything, so what do I need to do to be vibrant? The minimum amount protocol. Yeah, exactly. Vigorous. Vigorous. Vigorous. Yeah, you need to think about balance, strength training,
Amy: Balance.
Whitney: cardiovascular, and bone density. Those are kind of the things. All right.
Amy: Oh, okay. Those are our four pillars here?
Whitney: Kind of, yeah. Let's go with that.
Amy: I don't want to get into pillars, okay.
Whitney: Let's let's leave the pillars. All right, so research shows 80% of strength and longevity benefits come from just four to six hard sets per muscle per week, per muscle group per week, so I'm going to break it down.
Amy: Uh-oh, we're already into math.
Whitney: I know. Don't worry about it, I'm going to I'm going to this is so easy. A couple of things, now you know about sets and reps, you know those words.
Amy: Oh, big time.
Whitney: Yeah, okay, so the reps are what matter. You want your your muscle to get tired. Right? So, you can't work with 2 lb weights and do 10 reps, and then that's not
Amy: No, a friend of mine the other day was like, "Well, I have some four, five lb, she was like my 4 lb weights, whatever, and I started laughing, and she tried to defend it, and I was like, "No."
Whitney: No, it's too light if you can hit all your reps and you could easily do five more. It's too light.
Amy: Yeah. You got to go heavier and longer.
Whitney: It's For me. the way that you know if you're just right is if on your last two reps, you're struggling to get it up. That's what she said. That's what she said. That is just right, and your body is going to adapt, so over time, those reps will become easy, and you'll add on more weight, but if you're if you're having a tough time getting through your last two reps, you've got a good weight going right then, all right?
Amy: Yeah, add more weight. That's right, that's right.
Whitney: So, the Holy Trinity: strength, balance, bone density. What you're actually training for, and this was really interesting to me, as an 88-year-old, you want to be able to get up out of your chairs. You're going to need to get get up or out of your bed.
Amy: Can you still make a noise when you do that?
Whitney: Sure, we do now, yeah. Sit down in a chair, stand back up, you need to be able to carry your groceries. One for me was I want to be able to lift my luggage up into the overhead bin,
Amy: Oof.
Whitney: cuz I'm going to be a crazy traveling 88-year-old. And then you never want to fall. Those are the things that you're working towards, okay?
Amy: Right. Okay. Good goals.
Whitney: Great goals. So, all you have to do squats, because that's helping you sit up and stand up, that you those thigh muscles are the biggest muscle in your body, so if you can get those strong, you're going to be pretty good.
Amy: I really do try to train my thigh muscles a lot, like when I go to the gym, I'm like that is just a biggie.
Whitney: Yeah. You can do a squat, and first, you can just do a squat without a weight, and then you can use a weight. You can use a chair and just do that up and down depending on what your mobility is, what your age is already,
Amy: Mhm. Yeah.
Whitney: but just squats, dude, squats.
Amy: What about kettlebell swings?
Whitney: That is something you can do, yeah, that's not on this little list, but kettlebell swings are helpful for grabbing, like your your your grip, cuz your grip is something that If you can't open that jar of pickles, you're going to starve to death.
Amy: Yep. I knew an older lady.
Whitney: Got to be able to grip.
Amy: And she was like complaining about how she couldn't open things.
Whitney: Yeah, it's sad.
Amy: I was like what?
Whitney: So, the the strength moves at home, you can do your squats, you do a row, and you can support yourself on a table, and you just pull that weight up to your hip. Does that make sense?
Amy: You're doing this at home, huh?
Whitney: You can You can do it anywhere, but if you hate going to the gym, if you don't want to spend, I don't know what you spend, but like Upgrade Labs is $300 a month for 18 points or whatever, and every machine has a certain amount of points.
Amy: I don't spend I spend like a 100 bucks a month for my gym, and And I keep my workouts about 45 minutes, 45 to an hour.
Whitney: You only need 20 minutes, 20 minutes. That's about how long I lift weights. Yeah. And then the then there's a floor press, so you just lie on the floor, and you press dumbbells up over your head, or you could probably do push-ups.
Amy: Yeah, you totally could.
Whitney: Push-ups are great. And then the farmer's grip, the farmer's carry for grip and core, you just grab two heavy dumbbells, and you walk with them for like 45 to 60 seconds.
Amy: That's a really, really good one, because the other day, Sydney and I were coming back from Lima, and the escalator was broken for one spot that we had to go down, and it was just one staircase, and Sid was like, "I'm going to just grab my suitcase and walk down," and I was like, "Should I take the escalator?" And I was like, "I can do this." So, I carried my suitcase, but I could tell that it was not like it used to be.
Whitney: Yeah, your grip has changed.
Amy: It wasn't just my grip, it was something about my legs, and I was like, "Oh, I'm not as stable as I used to be," and I said to Sid, I was like, "I can tell that this that this handling this weight while I'm doing this is not what it used to be." And she said, "I'm so glad to hear you at least acknowledge that and understand it," because she was like, "My dad doesn't."
Whitney: Oh, he's still pretending that he can do it all?
Amy: Yeah, and you know what? That's that's one of the leading things for men mainly who get injured, is like they think that they can do all the things that they used to do, and they can't. And like like they get on the roof and do all these things, and like your body's just not the same as you train.
Whitney: But, if you train it, I mean I think about It's funny, I've said this.
Amy: Well, I could tell I hadn't been working out the way that I had.
Whitney: But like Arnold Schwarzenegger, he's still very fit. So, I would think that he could still do normal, you know, like, I don't know, not all the things he did when he was in his 20s, but he's still way more fit than other people his age, so I don't I think he's,
Amy: But, I think the older you get, like it does change a little, and so you've just got to be cognizant of like I really have to train this.
Whitney: Yes, you have to keep changing cuz your body, yeah.
Amy: Like I could tell I haven't been working out the way that I should be, and I was like I got to step up my game.
Whitney: Yeah. Well, even You think, "Oh, just holding two dumbbells and walking around for 60 seconds, it's not easy." If you've got the good
Amy: It'll get your heart rate up.
Whitney: the the heavy weight, you know? We're not talking 2 lb, 5 lb, 10 lb.
Amy: No, use like two at least two 25s start with, you know?
Whitney: Yeah.
Amy: I guess you could start with two 15s depending on where you are, but I can do with two 25s.
Whitney: Yeah. All right, so those are the strength moves that you need to do, then we do the balance and bone hacks, okay? So, balance is super important, we don't want to fall down. I talked about this, I tried to stand on one foot while I brush my teeth, and one day I fell and hurt my foot, but
Amy: Oh, you don't do a lot of balance, huh?
Whitney: What in what do you mean?
Amy: I just I do a lot, well, I mean I guess I've done yoga for so long, there's so much balance in that, you know, like
Whitney: Yeah. I've done I used to do Pilates a lot, so I feel like I still have some core strength, which is a a big balance thing, but, no, I'm not I also have one of those Bosus, is that what they're called?
Amy: Yeah, Bosu's really good for it.
Whitney: And I'm going to bring that upstairs, it's in the garage from when I used to do workouts down there. I'm going to bring it upstairs, and when I'm watching TV or talking on the phone, I'm going to stand on it, and I think that's going to help.
Amy: Flip it over and stand on it that way. Like stand on it with the bouncy part on the bottom
Whitney: Ah. Oh, interesting.
Amy: and then stand on the top. It's It'll challenge you a lot at first, but that's really, really good, and then start to lift weights with it flipped over, like just maybe do some some whatever, you know, like just some general arm movements there with it flipped over, because I feel like that really trains me too, and that's that's a lot of what I do like for balance or I don't know, just I'll do a lot standing on one leg. I'll do like side bends, and I'll stand on one
Whitney: But on both legs or just one leg?
Amy: and then I'll alternate.
Whitney: Yeah, alternate, cuz that's the other thing, like if you're doing it when you're brushing your teeth, make sure that you're doing it on both sides, not just your dominant leg, it needs to be both.
Amy: Yeah, yeah. Or, I'll just like I'll do you know the thing where it's sort of like a hinge where you'll hold the weight in one arm and keep the corresponding leg on the floor, and then you go backwards with your opposite leg as you bend forward and work on your alignment just to hinge down and that's going to work.
Whitney: Yes, the hinge of the hips is important. One thing that I asked, because I I heard from somebody a while ago, like a doctor online or something, about if you can jump, you know those box jumps jumps or whatever? That's really good for bone density, but I hate to do those jumps, and I'm scared.
Amy: I think the older I get, the more scared I am with those. I've tripped before when I didn't used to 10 years ago, and it's little things like that that I just feel like, mm, and so I just jump standing.
Whitney: Okay, so I've got a hack. Well, that's what I was about to say, so you you don't have to do all that, all it's about that drop and that that quick drop into your body and it kind of shakes your bones and it makes your body go, "Oh, we need to put more calcium so that we can handle this stuff." So, you can just bounce, you can just jump, you know, or if you don't want to jump, you can just drop your heels.
Amy: Really?
Whitney: You can do like a you know, heel up and then just drop it, and drop it like it's hot, and it's the same, it does the same thing.
Amy: Huh, and you get the same effect?
Whitney: Yes, isn't that crazy?
Amy: Wow, no, that's good to know.
Whitney: Raise up on your tiptoes and drop heavily down onto your heels 15 times and you're giving yourself a bone bone-building exercise.
Amy: Wow, that's amazing. That's amazing.
Whitney: So, you don't you don't need to jump up on a box, forget it.
Amy: And I do it just on the ground. I'll squat all the way down with my hands in front of me, and then I'll do an explosive move just jumping straight up,
Whitney: Yeah. I hate explosive moves.
Amy: put my arms down for like a for momentum, and then come back down, and so that's a really good one just for um, just for that jumping, and and I'll just do like 12 of the Actually, 12 maxes me out, I can get to 10 and then I'm panting and breathing, so like I'll do 10 of those like in my in my in my circuit.
Whitney: And that's great because you're getting your thighs and stuff too, but if you if you don't want to do all that, and we're just talking about this is just for bone density.
Amy: Yeah, you could just stand and drop the heel.
Whitney: It's giving your body Yeah, it's giving the jolt to let your body know, "Oh, we need to build some bone."
Amy: What?
Whitney: Isn't that crazy?
Amy: I just tried it, that's weird.
Whitney: Yeah. And then the other thing that you need to think Well, there's two more things. Cardio, which a lot of my friends go on walks, so that's good, but you have to walk brisk enough to where you couldn't sing a song, you could have a conversation, but it's a little bit winded,
Amy: Walks. What?
Whitney: but not be able to to sing a song.
Amy: Mhm. I've worked my way up where I can do 30 minutes at a 10% incline and like at like 3 mph or more, I really do I really do intervals by between like 3 mi and 4 mph, and I'll do 1 minute intervals.
Whitney: Yeah, that's Yeah. And that's and that's what they're saying here too, if you can hit hills, like if you're going to be hiking or or walking in your neighborhood, hit the hills because it it spikes the heart rate, and like intervals, you want to go get your heart rate up and then bring it down. Get your heart rate up, bring it back down, so if you can even do some bursts like on your walk, "I'm going to I'm going to run from here to the next stop sign,"
Amy: Or just like walk really fast.
Whitney: Yeah, just walk really fast.
Amy: They say, "Walk like you're late to a meeting."
Whitney: Yes, exactly. And then the other thing is weighted vest, or they said just put a a light weight or a water bottle in your backpack, in your backpack. Anything just to add a little bit of weight, but we're all into the weighted vest now, so you just wear your weighted vest, and so those things are going to build your cardio.
Amy: Yeah. Get your weighted vest. Yeah. I forget about my weighted vest all the time.
Whitney: Yeah, me too. Me too.
Amy: And then I'll see it and I'm like, "Oh, yeah." And then
Whitney: Yeah, but also my ego gets in the way and if I'm wearing my weighted vest and then I go out and everyone's wearing their weighted vest, I just feel like I'm a sheep. Like, "Ugh, I'm doing what everybody's doing."
Amy: Really?
Whitney: It's silly, yeah.
Amy: A sheep? So, you want to stand out by not wearing your weighted vest?
Whitney: Yeah, but I'm not doing that intentionally really, it's only when I'm wearing the vest and I see other people, I'm like, "Uh, we're all doing the same thing." And then the the thing that I keep forgetting, and you're very good about, protein.
Amy: Yeah.
Whitney: If you're doing all this and your body doesn't have the fuel, nothing's going to happen.
Amy: Right.
Whitney: You have to get in your protein, and it says 80 to 100 g of protein a day, and I think that was like a fist of protein,
Amy: That sounds about right. I think, yeah.
Whitney: per meal. 80 to 100 a day. 80 to 100 g of protein a day, and you're getting how many in your smoothie?
Amy: Well, I can get 55 in my smoothie, cuz I'll do a scoop of Vega sport protein, which is a scoop is 30 g, and then I'll do like basically that same scoop of peanut butter protein powder, PB PBfit, peanut butter powder, not peanut butter protein powder. Peanut butter protein powder is the Vega sport, and then just peanut butter powder, I which I think is so good, I love it, and a full scoop of that, that's another 24 g, so
Whitney: That's awesome. Yeah. You ha- And I think, you know, I've been super tired, and which also has you know, impacts your brain fog and mental clarity, and I think it's because I'm not getting enough protein.
Amy: Ah. Well, up your protein.
Whitney: I'm not. Yeah, I'm going to up it and
Amy: Yeah. I like a tofu scramble, too. I do that instead of eggs. I'll just scramble tofu. So good.
Whitney: I don't like tofu.
Amy: That's ridiculous.
Whitney: It's gross. The texture, I can't.
Amy: You just haven't had it made right. You've been eating it slimy or something.
Whitney: All right, well, why don't you whip me up some, and I'll see.
Amy: I'll do it right after this if you'd like. It's good.
Whitney: But anyway, I was so happy to hear all of this because like we always say, you can do a million things, you can start to feel overwhelmed, it's very simple.
Amy: Like get simple, right?
Whitney: It's very simple, and all I want to be able to do is get myself up, get myself out, you know, go on a trip, pick up a baby, carry my groceries, I don't need a six pack, I don't need to be that 88-year-old that can hang for, you know, the world record, like I don't need to be that person.
Amy: Right. Not fall down. No, me either.
Whitney: No, I don't really want to. Anyway, so the wrap up, drop the friction-heavy subscriptions you don't need, you don't need to be going to a super, you know, fancy gym, you just have to commit to 2 20-minute workouts, 40 minutes a day of strength training, doing those exercises that
Amy: Every day? Wait.
Whitney: No, two times a week.
Amy: Oh, two times a week, okay.
Whitney: One yeah, 40 minutes a week, so 2 20-minute workouts of the strength training, and then go on a couple of walks, and you're golden, and hit your protein.
Amy: Wow, you know what? I feel really validated. That's essentially what I've been doing.
Whitney: Yeah. And don't forget to balance.
Amy: And and yeah, you Just integrate balance. integrate balance in there too. Like, it's not that hard to integrate balance, it's kind of fun.
Whitney: No, when you're cooking dinner or you know, talking on the phone or whatever, yeah.
Amy: Mhm. Yeah, yeah.
Whitney: Anyway, it made me feel
Amy: Or, throw some yoga in there, going to yoga once a week is awesome, it helps with flexibility.
Whitney: Yeah, you can do that. Get on YouTube and get go onto a yoga channel and do it in your living room.
Amy: Mhm. Yeah. So, Cool, good one.
Whitney: There you go. Yeah, we don't have to we don't have to be stressed about it, guys.
Amy: Oh, no, oh, I really liked that one, cuz I want to do the minimum.
Whitney: Me too. I'm tired.
Amy: I know, me too.
Whitney: I'm working on it, though.
Amy: My 21-year-old the other day was like, "I'm tired. Oh, my god." And I was like, "You're only 21. I I'm tired."
Whitney: I know. I know. And my mom my mom is tired, too, and I'm like, "But, I shouldn't be at the level that you're at. You're going to be 80. I'm 55," right? She's like, "Well, you're there."
Amy: You're there.
Whitney: It's like, "Well, shit." But, I'm going to get more protein in,
Amy: There you go.
Whitney: and and I think that's going to help.
Amy: It does help. It does help, absolutely. All right, well, thank you, guys.
